What is this playing format?
Our Friday Night League is focused on having fun with other golfers. Part of the fun is friendly competition that is fair and enjoyable for everyone, no matter their skill level which is why we use a Point Scoring System (similar to the Stableford System). It is important to have your GHIN or official handicap recorded to start the season so that target point score each week can be established. Every player will play his/her own ball. The max score for each player on every hole is triple bogey. If a triple bogey is reached prior to the ball being holed, the player should pick up to increase pace of play.
What is the Point Scoring System?
Points are awarded per hole based on scores relative to par (e.g., 2 for par, 3 for birdie, 1 for bogey). It encourages faster, more aggressive play because high scores on a hole can be ignored and a terrible hole does not ruin your entire round. How traditional Point Scoring works:
Albatross (3 under) - 5 Points
Eagle (2 under) - 4 Points
Birdie (1 under) - 3 Points
Par - 2 Points
Bogey (1 over) - 1 Point
Double Bogey (2 over) - 0 Points
Triple Bogey Max (3 over) - (-1) Points
What is a target point score?
Based on your GHIN or official handicap, a target score will be established for each week played. To start, we will apply your handicap to the slope and rating for the golf course to calculate your handicap score index. That score index will be used to calculate your target point score for 9 holes. Based on the points earned during the round, your point total minus your target point score equals your +/- point total for the event. The highest + point total for all scores wins the event. (e.g. Earned 18 points minus 15 target point score equals +3 point total.)
Example: An 8 handicap after applying slope and rating of the course equals a 6 handicap score index at the golf course. That means player would receive 3 strokes to par for 9 holes; or player would be expected to par 6 holes and bogey 3 holes for 9 holes. Therefore, the player would have a target point score of 15 for the round (6 pars x 2 plus 3 bogeys x 1 equals 15 points).
Target point total will be adjusted each week played based on +/- point total for the previous week. +3 point total will add 1 point to target point score the next week played, +4 point total will add 2 points, etc. -3 point total will subtract 1 point from target point score the next week played, -4 point total will subtract 2 points, etc.
Are there prizes awarded?
Stonebridge Golf Club provides prizing for each event at the end of each round. Prizes are awarded for low score, best score and various other games with up to $10 per round based on the number of rounds played in each event. The prize amount per event is divided by those winning during the round and paid to the winning players in Stonebridge credit which can be applied at checkout in the golf shop. Skins may also be available each round. A skin is awarded to an individual who has the lowest non-tied, net score on a hole during the round.
Is there a cancellation policy?
Stonebridge Golf Club events will be played, regardless of weather, unless the golf course is closed. If an event is canceled, Stonebridge Golf Club will make an attempt to re-schedule the event, or if the event cannot be re-scheduled, the entry fee will be applied towards another Stonebridge Golf Club event on the schedule. If you register for an event and cannot participate, a 48 hour notice is required, and your entry fee will be applied towards another Stonebridge Golf Club event on the schedule. NO REFUNDS or RAINCHECKS.
